The Cave
I wander into the cave not knowing what I will find. The sand is smooth, the rocks stretch above me, dark, then streaked with bright orange, cream, white, pale green, grey. It is dripping. It is clean and fresh like a huge jewel stretching back. The recesses continue. A bed of seaweed has gathered within it and white pebbles decreasing in size to the back of the cave. I expect it to smell foul but it is clean and fresh. It is perfect, I am awed by its secret beauty. Into silence. I go and fetch Peb.
Diary Excerpt:
"Before the rain over the Bay".
"Having identified a clifftop area slightly away from the path, overlooking the bay and with a view of "Foxhole Cave". Fairly flat and able to set up our stools, we begin to draw. Scrambling up to the top of the cliff a smiling lad appears in front of us, then, a slightly gasping dad. He says "Its a water run, that path"..."and ends in scree". The boy and his dad had walked down the water run the day before, having only just arrived. Peb tells them that there is only one way down really (the cliff is 280 feet high at least), but the lad is off before we can say any more.
After drawing we make our way back before the rain.
A cuffuffle is breaking out at the campsite about the unwelcoming welcome lady.....
